15th July: It’s repayment time again. All expected repayments came in except that for my 8th loan to Rehema Mbarikiwa. The Field Partner for this loan is BRAC Tanzania and it seems that it has problems getting permission from the Tanzanian government to send repayments out of the country. It says this is a temporary problem. We’ll have to wait and see. Anyway, I added another $8.75 to my account so that I have $25 in my account ready for my next loan.
Total invested (U.S. dollars): $138.75. Number of loans: 10. Fully repaid: 3. Loans still running: 7 (incl. 1 in arrears).
15th August: All expected repayments came in except, again, for my 8th loan to Rehema Mbarikiwa which remains in arrears. My account now has $45.36 in it ready for a new loan.
3rd Sept: Today I edited my 4000th Kiva loan.
15th Sept: All expected repayments came in except, again, for my 8th loan to Rehema Mbarikiwa which remains in arrears. My account now has $44.16 in it ready for a new loan. My 7th loan to Elvira Lumagod is now fully repaid which means that of my 11 loans, 5 are now fully repaid.
21st Sept: I made my twelfth loan today to Doniddemberel Dorjpurev who is a 45-year-old single mother who lives with her two children in Uvurkhangai in central Mongolia. She sells firewood and coal in Arvaiheer market and her business is the only income source for her family. Through the years, she has expanded her business and made it possible to store 3 - 5 truckloads of firewood and 2 - 4 truckloads of coal to sell at the market. She is requesting a loan to rebuild her firewood and coal storage building. Click on the photo to see her loan details.
The US$138.75 I have invested in Kiva has now provided 12 loans of $25 for a total of $300 in loans!
