Above shows the TV that was used for output. Below shows the keyboard, a Radio Shack kit that I modified.
2650 Mark I (continued) Here are some photos taken in March 1979 of my personal computer derived from the Radio-Electronics article. I’m the one in the white shirt with my friend Geoffrey Barkham wearing a jacket. Geoffrey was also interested in electronics and computers.

Here are some photos taken in March 1979 of my personal computer.
Above is a photo of the front panel that I designed and constructed from scratch. It was the only input and output in the early days. It had 16 address switches and LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes), 8 data switches and LEDs and several control switches and LEDs.
Above centre is a photo of me operating the front panel. Notice the old stalwart Model 7 Universal AvoMeter keeping an eye on the power supply voltages. Having invested hundreds of dollars in chips, I was always worried that a power supply malfunction would sent it all up in smoke!
At right is an overhead photo of the computer. The power supply is on the right, the S-100 boards are the long ones towards the top of the photo and there are a couple of Radio Shack 4.25” boards in the foreground. The ribbon cables coming from one of them connect to the keyboard and to the cassette tape recorder.
