Fixing the K2‘s broken headphone jack

The two knobs in the right-hand end are on/off/volume and frequency.


There is an internal 9 volt battery but also an input for an external power supply.


There is a small internal speaker situated under the knob.

Above is a photo of the broken headphone jack. You can see that
the black plastic has broken and no longer holds the metal parts in position. To fix it, I enclosed the jack in a piece of heat-shrink tubing (see photo at right). This pulled the pieces of the jack together and the resulting fix can be seen below.

To fix it, I
enclosed the jack in the piece of heat-shrink tubing shown in the photo on the right. As it shrunk under the heat gun, this piece of tubing pulled the pieces of the jack together. The resulting fix can be seen in the photo below. You can see that the crack is not quite closed but is closed sufficiently to restore normal usage.
