Apple Macintosh (continued)
With the accumulation of problems with the Titanium PowerBook, in 2008 I replaced it with a 15” MacBook Pro (see the photo on the right). It contains an Intel Core 2 Duo processor so it was our first Macintosh with multiple cores.
2009 saw Jacquie’s eMac replaced with a new iMac (see the photo on the left). This computer has a 24” screen and is stunning. The eMac was sold to neighbours and, last I heard, is still running.
In 2012, the serial ports of the MacPlus stopped working and, as it was used only as a serial monitor, it was time for it to go. It went to the roadside in its original box and was snapped up.
In 2013 the MacBook Pro started to give problems with the screen and sometimes wouldn’t boot. Since this was the computer that I used every day, I replaced it with a new 15” MacBook Pro (Retina, Late 2013). This has an Intel Core i7 with four cores and a solid state hard drive. Quite the machine.
